Ringling High Schools Students, Parents Protest After Abuse Allegations
Students and parents at Ringling High School protested over alleged verbal abuse by teachers and the football coach, Phillip Koons. The protests were sparked by ongoing investigations into the accusations, including claims from students about being mocked and embarrassed. Tod Mercer, representing victims, criticized the school board for ignoring the situation and called for Koons’ removal. Koons is currently on administrative leave, and a federal civil rights lawsuit is expected.
